On the Western Fringes
Jaisalmer sits on the western edge of India, and it truly does feel like you’ve reached the end of civilization. A massive medieval fort, of course (one of the few that is still inhabited and within whose walls thousands of people live), surrounded by parched sand-colored dwellings and then the vast expanse of the forbidding Thar Desert. From here on out, it’s camel territory.
The following images were all taken from within the Jaisalmer fort.

I wonder of what do all those people dream as they pass their days there at the edge of the civilized world….
Beautiful set of pictures, all of them…
We still can see traces of blue, but the architectural and clothing dominant color seems to be orange in that area.
Gabriel – really beautiful photography. May I suggest you find the most simple temple in each place – go there and close your eyes for a few hours. If you haven’t already been doing that – you might be surprised – its the other 100 % of India. If the most simple is too simple then go to the second most simple. It can be rel treat. – Regards

My heart was beating fast while appreciating this batch of photos. I was blown away by the details of the sculptures and architecture. They are truly beautiful and they spoke to me. I almost felt like reaching out and touching every surface of everything. I wanted to comment on every photo, but only found myself speechless and lost in the beauty of each piece of art work.

This is one of the two batches of photos that made me emotional (for whatever reason, I don’t understand). The other batch was Tuol Sleng (S-21) Prison.
Yes, Jaisalmer’s city and temples has a strange allure and magic all of its own.
